OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our firm philosophy can be summarized with the following points: to provide the finest auditing, accounting, tax and consulting services; to help each client reach their maximum potential; to be a firm that is enjoyable to work for and rewarding to work with; to contribute to our community and the profession to which we belong; and to grow, but never lose the local identity and personal relationship with clients that is the foundation of our practice.

A BRIEF HISTORY

The partnership was formed in 1949 by Branch L. Axley and Carl F. Rode. One partner joined the firm with the merger of his sole proprietorship with the firm partnership. All other partners joined the firm as staff accountants and were promoted to the partner level. The growth of the firm has been from internal expansion, acquisition and merger.

The original office was located in Lufkin, Texas. The firm opened an office in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1972 and additional small practices have been acquired periodically and added to this office. In 1974, a practice was acquired in Crockett, Texas. The firm merged with a sole proprietorship in Livingston, Texas in 1979 and acquired an additional Livingston practice in 1999. In 2000, the firm acquired an existing accounting practice in Austin, Texas which was subsequently sold to a partner that retired from the firm in 2006. In 2003, the firm acquired a practice in Jasper, Texas and acquired an additional Jasper practice in 2005.

The firm currently has approximately 70 personnel, including 16 partners. The firm has approximately 45 professionals including 28 Certified Public Accountants.

QUALITY CONTROL

In order to assure our clients that our firm continues to meet professional quality control standards, we are members of the Private Companies Practice Sections of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Representatives of the AICPA periodically perform reviews of our firm's quality control procedures related to the accounting and auditing services provided to our clients. Professional members of our firm are required to maintain a minimum number of hours of continuing professional education on an annual basis. This allows our professionals to keep abreast of standards related to our profession and the specific industries we serve.
